DYNAMIC YOGA: This 75 minute class gives more experienced students a chance to develop their practice with energetic vinyassa sequences. The tempo is upbeat and cardiovascular as postures flow smoothly from one to the next, warming up the body to explore more challenging postures.
Especially good for: intermediate students who are in reasonably good health and who like to sweat as they rise to a challenge!
STRUCTURAL YOGA THERAPY SERIES: This class follows a series of 24 asana developed by leading yoga therapist Mukunda Stiles. They form the foundation from which all other asanas are derived, and incorporate all the directions of motion your body can make. Following the same sequence on a regular basis enables the student to become familiar with the foundations of good yoga practice and monitor progress. According to Stiles “if you take the time to learn these poses thoroughly, your body will gradually realign itself into a better posture, most muscular stressors will subside, and many recurring health concerns will fall away”.
Especially good for: complete beginners and students with health complaints, whether related to illness, trauma, or lifestyle.
HATHA YOGA: Explore a variety of postures which can be modified to suit all levels and abilities. Each and every student can expect to find some postures easy and others challenging.
Especially good for: Everyone!
YOGA PEACEFUL PRACTICE: This slow-paced, restorative class draws inspiration from the yin yoga style, which works deeply into the connective tissues to gently stimulate the flow of ‘chi’ (or energy) in the body. Emphasis is given to use of props for extra support. Expect more floor-based postures which are held for up to several minutes, giving the body time to respond, relax and rehabilitate. The tone is one of quiet, reflective meditation. New and experienced students alike can benefit greatly from this practice.
Especially good for: beginners and students with health issues or an interest in meditation and the subtle body. |
